Merry Christmas to all...
From a very hot and sticky Canterbury let us wish you all a very Merry Christmas wherever you may be.
One of our stops was Totaranui, which is right on the coast and blessings be it has a "real" sand beach. Having been born and bred in the North of our fair country where there is nothing unusual in that, to Canterbury where the beaches are predominantly of the rocky variety this was the nearest thing to sheer bliss!
The beautiful Southern Rata blossom you see above is the "Southern" version of the Kiwi Christmas Tree. I grew up with Pohutukawa trees blossoming at this time of the year so to see this beauty was just fantastic!
I have many more photos to share from this trip but that will have to wait, I am off to spend some time with my darling husband and wait for the girlies to "calm down some!" so Santa can pay a visit.
So from us all, we wish you the very Merriest of Christmases and a safe, happy and prosperous New Year.

You may know we escaped the craziness that often surrounds the week before Christmas and escaped in Beddy to the Tasman district last week. Stunningly beautiful area and relatively quiet in the lead up to Christmas.
